A Daughter's Favor - Guest Blogger

Knowing your Father produces Faith; your Father knowing you produces faith.

Have you ever just struggled with doubt and unbelief?

I have. Not in who Jesus is; He is my father, my savior, my redeemer. But my struggle is in Faith:

Will he do it for me? I know he can....but will He? Is it His will?

In Judges we see Caleb and his daughter Achsah. And I think my goodness... Achsah was just BOLD in her faith.

I mean, do any of us ask for something without the expectation that the conditions are favorable for us to receive it?  Don’t we usually have the expectation that our request is reasonable?  So when we see this environment—- we ask.

Then the first step of our faith is in the asking.  How many times have I refrained from even asking out of doubt and unbelief?  Now this is exempting those times of Crazy Faith, of course.

Achsah had her new husband ask her father for the land.  But then she went to her father and said, You have given me the south land. Give me also springS of water.

Did you notice that "s"?  She did not ask for a spring...she asked for springs of water.

I believe her and her husband went to walk their land. They probably walked the boarders and looked it over. They noticed something. They noticed springs close by. They probably also noticed a glaring lack of water on the south land.

Now land is an asset. But there is land and then THERE IS LAND. Land without water still has value. But land with its own water source is very valuable. It’s a source of life. It’s a source of sustenance. It will make their work load easier. It will make their efforts more successful.

A water source is a game changer.

So she sent her husband to request land, but she went to request the water.

You know why? It is was too important to not go herself. To not bring her favorable pull as her father’s daughter. He was a son-in-law. Maybe even a well like one. But she was the father’s daughter

I think she remembered the years growing up listening to her father complain about those 10 spies!!! They had to wander in the desert because they lacked courage and boldness and faith! They let fear direct them!

Don’t you think that Caleb was angry at wandering in circles in the desert!! When he knew they could have taken them!  She probably overheard some conversations to that affect.

Then she had to have remembered her father went to claim his promise from Joshua! This had to have produced courage and boldness in Achsah. It was her heritage. Her father was of a different spirit.

So she went to her father in that same spirit!  Her father’s spirit. And she asked for not one spring but springs of water.

Sometimes we just need to remember that we are bought and paid for. We are daughters and sons of our Father. And we have been given a heritage of His mercy and His grace. We are allowed to come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy.  We can ask our Father. It is His good pleasure to give us the kingdom.

So when the doctors give us no hope, we run to the Father and ask for healing.
When we have no money, we pray and ask the Lord for help.
When we are beaten down and depressed and oppressed we ask the Father for deliverance.

We look up to Him so He can see the face of His child. So He can see our hearts. See our pure motives.  He is our Father, He wants to help us... don’t we want to help our children? He wants to help us as well.

And we ask Him because it is too important not hear from Him. He gives us the words of life.  And we need to hear them from Him. We need to hear Him whisper, "You can have the upper and the nether spring.

We have favorable pull with our Father!

Why?

Because He loves us! Oh how He loves us!
